World Associates
Welcomes New Board Member
Los Angeles, CA
(PR Newswire) On March 1, 2004 the Board of Directors of World Associates, Inc.
(World OTCBB: WAIV) appointed LeRoy West as a new Director, bringing the total
number of Directors serving on the Board of World to four. Mr. West has been a
consultant to World Associates for the past year, as well as a long-standing shareholder
and investor.
Mr. West has many
years experience as a business development manager in the construction, aviation
and electronics industries. During most of his career he was engaged in building
operations and sales organizations for fast growing companies like World Associates.
Mr. West has been a Senior Project Manager for Construction Resources, a high
end contractor in Miami, FL, Operations Manager for DECA, an aviation company
in Miami, FL, Vice-President of Alphatech, a computer company in New York, NY
and Sales Manager for Electrosonic Systems, an audiovisual systems company in
Burbank, California.
“We are very
pleased to welcome LeRoy West to the Board”, said Randall Prouty, president
of World Associates, Inc. “I have known LeRoy for some time and I am confident
of his proven business development skills. He brings a wealth of experience, but
also a determined and focused attitude from which I expect World and its subsidiary,
Superior Real Estate, Inc. (Superior) to benefit. Mr. West is increasingly active
in our day-to-day operations as a consultant and his role is expected to continue
to grow in the future.”
World Associates,
Inc., through its wholly owned subsidiary Superior Real Estate, Inc., is focused
on two primary real estate market segments in California. The first is developing
factory-built single-family homes that are affordable, but designed to compete
with the curb appeal and quality of site-built homes. Construction with factory-built
homes is a simpler process which requires less time than site-built construction,
lowering overall risk and improving profits. Superior Real Estate, Inc. is a manufactured
home dealer for nationally recognized brands, including Fleetwood Homes, Skyline,
and Cavco.
The second is land
development, which involves investing in raw land and adding to its value by having
it approved for development by municipalities or counties. There is increasing
market demand in California for fully approved land from the development and investment
communities. There is little competition in the land development business because
of the expertise it requires, yet much of the profit realized in many real estate
projects comes from land appreciation and entitlement efforts. This makes the
land development business an attractive opportunity requiring few personnel resources
and offering significant rewards.
